Before Spieker's merger with Equity Office Properties Trust in 2001, Russell was president of Spieker's Silicon Valley Region, where he invested nearly $ billion and expanded Spieker's Silicon Valley portfolio into nine million sf of industrial and office properties. Russell joined Spieker in 1990 and became an officer of the company when it went public as a REIT in 1993.
Besides his real estate background, Russell spent six years with IBM in various marketing positions and is president of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) Silicon Valley Chapter.
PS Business Parks acquires, develops, owns and operates commercial properties, primarily flex, multi-tenant office and industrial space. The Company defines "flex" space as buildings that combine office and warehouse space and can be designed to fit a broad number of uses, including office, assembly, showroom, laboratory, light manufacturing and warehouse space. As of June 30, the company's portfolio included approximately 14.8 million net rentable square feet of commercial space in nine states, primarily in California, Texas, Oregon, Virginia and Maryland.
