The Detroit planning commission approved a rezoning request in July for the company to build an 81,000-sf office and technology center on the site. The site already features a 15,000-sf office and 155,000-sf of manufacturing space. The whole site is about 16 acres.

"The ArvinMeritor project's major positive community impact set it apart," says Harrell Scarcello of Scarcello Associates, who chaired CREW-Detroit's award committee. "This project created jobs, increased Detroit's tax base and cleaned up a contaminated site It's helping revitalize a depressed section of the city.
