The 80,000-sf build-to-suit features order entry, clinical intervention and automated dispensing of patient prescriptions. The two-year job plan is to employ 600 people, including more than 120 pharmacists, 200 pharmacy technicians and 280 administrative and clerical positions.

Rich Scardina, senior vice president of operations for the Birmingham, AL-based pharmaceutical firm, said Caremark selected Phoenix for its latest location based on the area's geographical convenience and infrastructure along with its superior labor force and technological talent. "Our business requires a high-quality workforce, with exceptional people to run our pharmacies," Scardina in a press release. "Having researched the local employment availability we found a perfect match for our needs in Phoenix."

The Phoenix site will be the company's fourth mail service facility in the US. The firm also operates 21 specialty pharmacies and three customer service facilities located throughout the nation.
