The new El Parador Senior Housing Project is a senior independent housing project developed with financial assistance from the city and housing authority, as well as Santa Clara County. The center has a price tag of $4.2 million.
The development consists of 125 one-bedroom units on 2.79 acres and is located on South Bascom Avenue near restaurants and shops. The Alviso Youth Center is located near the senior complex, next to George Mayne Elementary School, and will consist of a gymnasium, two classrooms and other facilities available for both school and community use.
