The facility is scheduled for completion in time for the 2004 racing season.

In addition to the Mountaineer track and resort, MTR operates the Ramada Inn and Speedway Casino in North Las Vegas, and the Ramada Inn in Reno, NV.
Edson R. Arneault, MTR's president and chief executive officer, thanked the people of Erie for their support in a statement, adding, "We are enthusiastic about building in Erie, which is already a resort and tourist destination…the new facility will present cross marketing opportunities with Mountaineer, which is approximately 150 miles from Erie.
