Developer Seeks Permits for 250,000-SF Retail Center

REVERE, MA- Newton-based New England Development wants to build a 250,000-sf retail complex on part of the 80-acre Suffolk Downs, a thoroughbred racetrack. The owners of the racetrack have been looking to develop the site for years.

New England Development is looking to build a 250,000-sf retail center on the site. Bill Cronin of the Newton-based company tells GlobeSt.com that an order of condition has been filed with the city's conservation commission and a site plan has been filed with the city's planning board.

Cronin, who adds that his company has not purchased the property, says he is not authorized to disclose any other details, noting that the projects still needs to go through the city's permitting process.
