With the investment, GM will renovate and retool the plant'sgeneral assembly area, body shop and paint shop. Production iscurrently scheduled to begin in the second half of 2004.

Prior to the launch of the all-new Grand Am, Orion Assemblyplans to reinstate its second shift of production. GM transitionedthe plant to one shift of production in April 2002 to align theplant's production output with market demand for its currentproducts. The timing of reinstating the second shift has not yetbeen determined.

Orion Assembly currently builds the Pontiac Bonneville,Oldsmobile Aurora and the Buick Park Avenue. In 2001, OrionAssembly built 150,662 units. The factory currently employs about2,000 hourly and 170 salaried employees.
