The regional distribution centre is a joint initiative between Sainsbury's Supermarkets and Greenham Common Trust, the not-for-profit body that took over the former cruise missile base in 1997. The distribution centre will occupy 46.45 acres, and construction will begin later this year with completion expected in 2004.

Stuart Tagg, Chief Executive of Greenham Common Trust, said: "Sainsbury's relocation to New Greenham Park is part of our plan to attract a broad spectrum of businesses, small, medium and large, to the business park. This will provide the Trust with a stable income stream that will benefit the wider community in Hampshire and West Berkshire. The development will bring new employment opportunities, sustain further economic growth and bring increased prosperity to the area."

FPDSavills and Dreweatt Neate are letting agents at New Greenham Park.
