The 2002 inductees are Gillis Thomas and Joe Foster, both heads of namesake companies. Their selection boosts the Hall of Fame head count to 50. The 15th annual induction ceremony is set for Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. at the Dallas Country Club at 4100 Beverly Dr. in Highland Park. Chris Teesdale, senior vice president of Swearingen Realty Group in Dallas, is this year's chairman.

Thomas, part of Dallas' old guard, was Trammell Crow's head of the industrial division for 26 years, starting out in the business as Crow's first partner. The two teamed in 1949 when Crow's main business was the Doggett Grain Co. Much of today's Crow industrial network was put in place under Thomas' reign. In 1975, he started the Gillis Thomas Co., a family-operated business specializing in development and leasing of warehouses and manufacturing facilities. Thomas is an active member of Dallas' civic organizations in addition to his real estate memberships.

Foster got his start in the business in 1962. He's been president of the local chapters of SIOR, Counselors of Real Estate and Turnaround Management Association. His affiliations today are the Real Estate Council of Dallas, Salesmanship Club and Urban Land Institute. He is a life member of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce.

Foster, a one-time mortgage banker, started out as a broker for Henry S. Miller Commercial, specializing in investment land sales. In 1974, he founded the Joe Foster Co.
