The residential-led development will create a new transport interchange. As well as residential, the proposals comprise office, hotel and leisure facilities, including a new food store and health and fitness centre on a raft over the railway tracks. Bryan Kirby, Director of Sales at Railtrack Property said: ""This is one of a number of schemes that we are actively pursuing on rail land across the UK to help to generate revenue for reinvestment in the railway".
Jones Lang LaSalle are Railtrack's development consultant for the project.
