Slated to encompass four stories and 105 rooms, the hotel is rising at 4395 E. Inland Empire Blvd., adjacent to Ontario Mills Mall. Construction is expected to begin within the next couple of weeks, with completion scheduled for June 2003. Project cost is approximately $8.2 million, including the amount paid for the land, according to a company spokesperson.
The Ontario project is part of Baymont's strategic market partnership development program, which entails joint ventures with qualified developers to build Baymont Inns in major metropolitan markets. Under this program, Baymont provides half of the equity requirement for each hotel and manages the completed properties, while the joint venture partner provides both development expertise and the other half of the capital. The hotel chain is planning to expand the SMPD program in California with potential sites including San Diego, Orange County, Anaheim, LAX Airport and Pasadena/Arcadia.
