The project's four major components offer many programs, serve a wide range of persons, and will create a major economic, cultural and social impact on Mexicantown, Detroit, and Southeastern Michigan, says Margaret Garry of Mexicantown Community Development Corp.

The development includes a state of Michigan Welcome Center, MexicantownMercado, a retail/office building and a public plaza.

The project will expand the Mexicantown restaurant and cultural district on Bagley Avenue.

By adding 45,000 sf of retail, office and cultural space, it will greatly add to the variety of activities and opportunities available to Mexicantown patrons, Garry says.

The project will offer cultural and arts programming within the Mexicantown Mercado and in the Public Plaza.

The project will be built in the heart of Mexicantown, at the base of the Ambassador Bridge from Detroit to Windsor.

The development corporation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) that promotes economic and cultural growth in Mexicantown, Detroit.
