Five homebuilders are in the first phase. Bradburn Rowhouse Apartments are being developed by a joint venture between Carmel Partners and Urban Real Estate Partners, while Beazer Homes will build 50 townhouses priced from the high $100s. New Town Builders will develop 80 houses pried from the mid-$200s to the mid-$300s, Sunburst Design will build 11 houses from the mid-$400s to $650,000, and Essex will build four houses priced from the mid-$300s to $700,000.

Plans call for 260 single-family houses in three neighborhoods - one with an urban feel, another than is family-oriented, and a third that is more open and rural. The development also will have 140 townhouses and lofts, 310 rental row homes, 25 live/work units and 60 rental apartments above the boutiques along Main Street.

Despite the sluggish economy and real estate market, 11 houses were pre-sold before Continuum even opened its sales office, said project manager Jeff Bedard.
