First to open will be a 4,095-sf inline store at Garland Towne Center at the southwest corner of North Garland Road and Walnut Lane. The space in the Kroger-anchored center is part of an expansion by owner Graham Realty Investments, Jim Weir of Fort Worth's Woodmont Co. tells GlobeSt.com.
In March 2003, Cato opens a 4,250-sf store at Grand Prairie Shopping Center, an under-construction development on the southwest corner of Interstate 20 and the Great Southwest Parkway. The project, totaling about 12,000 sf, is part of the usual Wal-Mart following. Developer WM & K of Hot Springs, AR has just broken ground on a tract positioned in front of a Wal-Mart Supercenter.
The two deals boost Cato's DFW investment to 17 stores, including its ITS Fashions, in its 750-location network spanning 24 states. Seven more are stacked up to sign in the next two to three months, Weir says. He and Woodmont's Jennifer Frank represent Cato and were the sole brokers for the deals.
