Within five years, the public and private entities doing business on the Fitzsimons Campus will employ more than 20,000 people and generate more than $1 billion in revenue annually.
The project that is selected will employ a variety of mixed-uses, reflect the area's urban character and density, promote pedestrian access and fit well with the city's long-term vision for the Fitzsimons Boundary Area.
Upon review of each submission, the city will select a group of finalists. Each finalist then will be asked to submit a more detailed Redevelopment Project Proposal. Once a developer is selected, the city will negotiate a development agreement and if necessary, help in property assembly.
If the city of Aurora helps assemble properties on the site, it will provide assistance to any displaced businesses or residents.
The city council has adopted the Federal Uniform Relocation Act as the guideline for providing relocation assistance to those being displaced. Currently, the site is comprised of more than 30 parcels in private ownership.
The deadline for submissions is Jan. 17.
