The 72-member chapter has received the Community Service Award for its annual fund-raiser for victims of domestic violence and their families. The two-year-old event is called Return to Respect and is part of the chapter's Gala of Grace program. Ten national chapters competed for the award.
Karen W. Procell, a partner in the Orlando law firm of Gronek & Latham, led the fund-raising campaign which has netted $40,000 over the past two years. Procell lost her sister to domestic violence.
"I will never be able to change how domestic violence has affected my family, but with the ongoing commitment and support of CREW Orlando, we do, however, have the power to make the story end differently for someone else," Procell says in a prepared statement.
"Winning this award is a great way to end year for our chapter," Jane Smalley, marketing director, Trammell Crow Co., Orlando, tells GlobeSt.com.
CREW Network has 5,000 global members in 46 chapters.
