The financial services firm, one of the area's largest corporate employers, expects to hire a total 700 customer service representatives and managers over the next 12 months, the company confirms to GlobeSt.com.

The move into the four-year-old, 127-acre corporate campus, 10 miles east of Downtown Tampa, had been rumored for months. Local business development officials are exuberant.

"This is great news for the Tampa Bay area, the largest commercial real estate hub in Central Florida and now one of the area's largest employers as well," a Tampa city staffer tells GlobeSt.com. "The move couldn't have come at a better time as the country struggles to get out of this recession."

Citigroup's Worldwide Securities Services and Travel Payment Services divisions already occupy quarters in Sabal Park. Ford Motor Credit Corp. and Chase Manhattan Bank also have regional corporate office buildings at the site.
