Taylor, who heads the privately held Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group, slashed prices by 35% at the 7-year-old Dandelion and cut the staff in half to 20, but sales still sagged.
No wonder. Retail sales have been on a steady decline in Boulder for close to 18 months, the overall office vacancy rate along the US 36 corridor between Boulder and Denver is 44% (66% in class-A space, according to one report), and there is a greater lack of parking than normal near the 90-space restaurant because of construction.
Taylor continues to own the Denver restaurants of Jou Jou, Palettes, Nicoise and Restaurant Kevin Taylor.
