Mark Porterfield recently joined the Henry S. Miller team as a multifamily specialist. Porterfield has five years' experience "and a great track record," Robert Stone, head of the firm's seven-member senior housing/multifamily division, said in a press release. Porterfield, formerly with Marcus & Millichap in Dallas, will focus on apartment building sales in Texas.

Sperry Van Ness, based in Irvine, CA, named Jay Massey as senior adviser in Dallas-Fort Worth. Massey makes the ninth professional in the state to snag the affiliation in Sperry Van Ness' Texas expansion.

Massey has more than 20 years in the business. He specializes in development land and investment real estate acquisitions. Prior to joining Sperry Van Ness, he owned the Jay Massey Co. in Dallas.

As the year winds down, the personnel changes around town have tapered off, particularly for the upper-echelon crowd. The year of change has brought some retirements and some claiming lead spots with competitors as they jockeyed for positioning, economically and professionally, in a down market.
