The 4,200-sf branch is to open in 2003. The credit union bought the 1.75-acre site from Robert Benson of Benson Investments. The sales price was not disclosed, but the property has an assessed market value of $390,000. The credit union's also has Austin locations at 9800 N. Lamar Blvd. and 1005 W. 41st St.
The new branch was designed by Chesney, Morales & Associates Inc. The general contractor is T&F Construction.
John Kelly, the credit union's senior vice president of planning and marketing, says the new branch's location near the intersection of Ben White and Congress Avenue is a perfect fit for its South Austin customers. Founded in 1952, Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union has 210,000 members and is the 23rd largest in the US. With the new Austin location, the credit union will have 18 branches.
