The Alaska company includes 74-bed North Star Hospital and 34-bed North Star Residential Treatment Center in Anchorage and a nine-bed residential treatment center in Palmer, AK.
Debra Osteen, president of UHS's behavioral health division, says in a statement that UHS plans to invest in expansion of North Star's services to Alaskans.
The transaction is expected to be completed on Dec. 31.
UHS is among the nation's largest hospital management companies. It operates acute care and behavioral health hospitals as well as ambulatory surgery and radiation centers nationwide, in Puerto Rico and in France and also acts as the advisor to Universal Health Realty Trust.
