Shannon Greene, CFO for the Leather Factory Inc., TandyLeather's parent company, tells GlobeSt.com that the firm acquiredthe 1126 N Scottsdale Rd. property, located in Suite 6 of thebuilding, for $30,000 from former owner Jim Augustson. He operatedthe store as Copper Saguaro Leather Co. "The Tempe area has alwaysbeen a huge market for our industry and this store it is expectedto be very successful.," Greene said.

The store, which operated as a Tandy Leather store at the samelocation prior to the company's sale in 2000 to the LeatherFactory, will sell leather and leather craft supplies under theTandy Leather name. In its earlier incarnation, the store was amongthe top 10 revenue generators for Tandy Leather, Greene said.

The sale marks Tandy's 14th retail store opening this year.Headquartered in Fort Worth, the Leather Factory is aninternational marketer and wholesale distributor of a broad rangeof leather and leather-related products including tools, dye,saddle and tack hardware and do-it-yourself leather makingkits.
