Ryder wanted to move into a 40% smaller facility to become more efficient, according to company officials. Its current 405,000-sf facility is on Northwest 82nd Ave. in the Doral area of Miami-Dade County.
The capital investment for the new facility is reportedly $40 million. Ryder System Inc. was founded in Miami in 1933 and has been based there for all but five years of its existence.
Beacon Station is Florida's largest business park, currently with approximately 30 buildings and 3.3 million sf of space. It will consist of more than 9 million sf of office, warehouse and retail space on 960 acres when completed.
