The Snyder Company is developing 336 townhome-style apartments spread across 19 acres and set around 11 acres of open space. The development skirts Medea Creek, which will continue its current course across the property. Along the freeway frontage the company will build 34,800 sf community-serving retail and restaurant space. In addition, Snyder is currently negotiating with a hospitality firm to build a 104-room all suites hotel on two acres.
The apartments consist of 24 buildings each with 14 units, designed by VanTilburg, Banvard and Soderbergh architects. Snyder says the design is intended to look like a single-family residential development, with no exposed staircases, and ground-level parking underneath each unit. The apartments will be ready for occupancy in fall 2003.
As part of the development, the Snyder Co. is giving 2.6 acres to the City of Agoura Hills for improvements to the nearby busy freeway interchange at Kanan Road. In addition the freeway frontage road, Canwood Street which bounds the site to the south, will be extended to meet Kanan Road improving traffic flow in the area.
The J.H. Snyder Co. has developed retail, commercial and residential properties for more than 50 years.
