Located on the corner of Woodward and Mack in the heart of Detroit, the Woodward Millenium project is taking a contaminated property and transforming the site into a $37 million mixed-use development, including retail and loft condominiums on Woodward and a large, garden-style multifamily rental complex on Mack.

CAT was instrumental in securing community development block grant funds for the development of a major downtown revitalization project in the city of Niles. City officials wanted to remove an existing metal façade along one block of Downtown and reconstruct the Downtown streetscape.

"We ran into some problems on our end and the state was very patient in working with us" and helping land the grant, says Terry Eull, city administrator.

The metal façade, built in the early 1970s, covers what was once an architecturally attractive string of buildings, Eull explains. The CAT assisted in finding other funding sources for the redevelopment.

Another brownfield project in a city downtown is Radio City in Traverse City. The project transformed a contaminated former gasoline station and car dealership into a commercial and office center in the Downtown area.
