Gunter Kreissel of Switzerland, owner for several years, had the land on the market for quite awhile before the San Antonio-based buyer came forward. Kelley Parker and John Littman, both with the Houston office of Cushman & Wakefield of Texas Inc., represented the seller. C.A. Rousser of Houston's Rousser Cos. brokered the sale for the cement company.
Rousser tells GlobeSt.com that the sale closed Dec. 31. He would not release the asking or selling price, but did disclose Alamo's plan to develop a large dock with storage silos for importing cement. Alamo has a cement terminal in Corpus Christi, but it is the company's first venture into Houston. Rousser estimates it will take a year before the terminal is ready for business. Alamo is touted as the oldest cement producer west of the Mississippi River, counting the Texas State Capitol in Austin as one of its landmark contracts.
