Rodney and Rene Smith purchased the 36,000-sf building at 1710 E Washington St. from the Hedlund Family Trust which had operated Hedlund Fabrics, a well-known fabric supplier in the area for the past three decades. The new owners plan to use the single-story building, which includes 3,000 sf of office and showroom space, to store exhibits for trade shows and conventions.
Steve Pool of Grubb & Ellis Co. tells GlobeSt.com, that the building's downtown location, close to nearby convention facilities and hotels, was a key factor in the sale.Pool and Rick Foss, also with Grubb and Ellis, represented the buyer in the transaction.
