Hooters Restaurant Goes to Washington

WASHINGTON, DC-Infamous Atlanta, GA-based restaurant chain Hooters of America Inc. opens its first location in the District with the debut of its 4,500-sf space in the city's downtown area today. There are five other locales in the Metropolitan Washington, DC region.

Well known for scantily clad, all-female wait staff known as the Hooters Girls, the dining chain will mark its 20-year anniversary this year and currently boasts more than 300 beach-theme locations throughout the US and 10 other countries. The company took eighth place on the National Restaurant News list of the top 10 growth chains in the US for 2002.
