Prior to joining Pacifica, Barnard worked as vice president of acquisitions and capital investments for Silver Spring, MD-based Choice Hotels International. Other career experience includes a five-year stint at Marriott Corp., where he served in various capacities, including finance, development finance and feasibility.

In his new role at Pacifica, Barnard will oversee lodging acquisitions and the continued growth of the company. "Mike Barnard has a proven record of performance that will serve Pacifica well as we continue our focus on California coastal limited-service boutique properties, as well as other prime California hotel locations and sites for development and acquisition," says Dale J. Marquis, Pacifica's chairman and president.

Based in Santa Barbara, Pacifica is a privately held real estate investment and hotel management firm. In 2002, the company and its affiliates reported revenues of $64 million and an overall portfolio occupancy rate of 70%. Pacifica's holdings include the Empress Hotel in La Jolla and Shelter Pointe Marina and Hotel in San Diego.
