Teammates now has moved from its former headquarters on East Evans Avenue in southeast Denver to the 22,000-sf industrial building which will serve as Teammates' new corporate headquarters and showroom.

Teammates, which was named to the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing U.S. private companies in 2001, now has doubled its space and added many new amenities not available in its old facility.

Teammates decided to take advantage of the soft market conditions and buy, rather than continue to lease says president Michael Berkery. "Right now, interest rates are low, pricing for real estate tends to be more reasonable, and we wanted to both fix our occupancy costs and accommodate the continued growth of the company," he says. "Plus, we have put so much thought and effort into the design of this facility. It will provide a great working environment for our customers and employees."

The new headquarters will allow Teammates to offer more amenities for both its customers and employees. For example, customers will enjoy a more centralized location, a dedicated showroom, new design mock-up lab, a large presentation classroom and more warehouse space. The building is double the space of its former location.

For employees the property includes a workout area, several areas for casual dining and "collaboration zones," and even a living room with a fireplace and mountain view.

Denver-based Burkett Design handled the architecture and design services, with agency principal Rick Burkett heading up the project. Burkett says the renovations to the building were extensive, as the building essentially was gutted down to a shell and rebuilt from the inside out.

The first floor of the building will include the showroom, a presentation/training room that also will be a community room that's loaned out for industry events and meetings, employee break-room and warehouse space. The second floor features employee work areas, an employee café with an outdoor barbecue area on a balcony, a formal boardroom with full kitchen, an eight-foot fireplace that defines an informal meeting area and space for a library/reference room.
