By the end of last November, CHFA's loan production totaled $542 million, or $226 million more than the entire year in 2001. With one more month still to be tallied, CHFA already had exceeded its yearly projection by $226 million.
"Our 2002 production has served more needy households and small businesses than in any other single year in CHFA's 28-year history," says CHFA executive director Milroy A. Alexander.
While 8% of Colorado's residents are single parents, 27% of CHFA's rental beneficiaries and 15% of its homebuyers are signal parents. And while 14% of Colorado households are minorities, 30% of its renters and 30% of its homebuyers are minorities.
The median income of a CHFA homebuyer is $37,440, less than 80% of the state's median income of $47,200. The median income of residents in rental units financed by CHFA is $20,673.
Year-to-date, CHFA single-family home production hit $373 million, providing 3,061 loans to first-time homebuyers in 55 counties. That is 54% higher than the year-to-date budgeted amount of $242 million.
Rental housing loan production reached $131 million for 29 loans, creating or retaining 3,300 rental units in 20 counties. Rental housing loan production is 157% higher than the year-to-date budgeted amount of $51 million.
Loan production in the business finance area reached $47.7 million. The 94 loans in 31 counties created or retained 1,404 jobs, 29% higher than the year-to-date budgeted amount of $43.2 million.
