Muckelshoot Indian Tribe and Clear Channel Entertainment recently broke ground on a $30-million, 10,000-seat amphitheater on a 98-acre site. According to the developers, White River Amphitheater will be Western Washington's largest outdoor concert venue.
The new highway access permit will allow access to and from the site on state Route 164 at four locations between Southeast 400th and 408th streets. As part of the permit, the tribe must fund and construct turn lanes, shoulder improvements and street lighting along SR-164, as well as assist in paying for four off-site intersection improvement projects and a traffic management plan. The permit "represents the last major hurdle" for the project, says the tribe.
Clear Channel Entertainment, which will operate the amphitheater, anticipates a June opening.
