The $4 million building will be owned by Larimer Square, but is being developed and designed by BYG. Completion is expected in six to seven months. It will house the Capital Grille restaurant.

The structure, built on the former Noel Park site, will serve as an infill between the historic Granite and Sussex buildings. The Globe Furniture building once stood there, but was razed decades ago.

The design for the new building underwent a lengthy approval process by the Denver Landmark Preservation Commission. The commission encouraged an innovative design, but not one that is a historic replica of the existing buildings.

The new building will have a sandstone base similar to other buildings on Larimer Square and a large awning to maintain a pedestrian scale.

As part of the project, Larimer Square is donating more than 3,000 bricks and pavers to Colfax Elementary School. The materials will be removed from Noel Park during construction.
