The 21 casinos in Black Hawk, led, as usual, with $43.9 million in revenues. The 17 casinos in Cripple Creek logged $11.3 million, up from $10.8 million in December and $10.3 million in January last year, while Central City's five casinos had proceeds of $4.5 million, unchanged from December or January 2002.
Central City and Black Hawk are mountain communities west of Denver and adjacent to each other, while Cripple Creek is south of Colorado Springs.
In total, the casinos that allow limited stakes gaming paid $9.7 million in taxes in January.
