About 100 real estate professionals attended yesterday's South Texas Mortgage Brokers and Bankers Conference at the St. Regis Hotel in Houston. Situs Cos. and Aaron & Wright Inc. co-sponsored the event.
Jeff Munger, Holliday's senior research director in Houston, tells GlobeSt.com that Houston is outperforming the rest of Texas as well as ranking high on the national list. He says Houston has the highest apartment, office and industrial occupancies in the state while securing a place in the Top 10 nationally for the same categories. According to Munger, Houston's job rate change of 0.2% ranks third in the US' largest cities, surpassed only by Miami and San Diego.
Munger's assessment didn't shut out the rest of the state. His second Texas pick for investors: Austin. Despite the current economic strains, Austin remains a very desirable market, Munger says.
