The company proposes to develop twin towers of 28 and 34 storeys designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership at Riverside South, at the western end of Canary Wharf. A separate application will be submitted for the North Quay site, north of the Wharf, featuring towers 36 and 39 storeys high.
Canary Wharf Group chairman Paul Reichmann said: "We are confident in the prospects for London in the medium to long term. The government's recent announcements on the Thames Gateway confirm our own view that London in general can look forward to sustained employment and housing growth."
The announcement comes as new guidance on tall buildings has been published which endorses a development plan-led approach to tall buildings proposals. The aim is to ensure such building are planned as 'part of a clear long-term vision rather than in an ad hoc, reactive, piecemeal manner', says the guidance.
