Now, the building will be returned to its educational roots. The establishment's owners, a local partnership headed by proprietor Lisa Tevis, has signed a contract to sell the building to the Red Bank Charter School Association. No details of the pending sale were released and the parties would not provide further information.
The restaurant's owners are said to have had multiple bids for the property, which also includes a basement and has its own parking lot. According to a published report, the Charter School's bid won out over an unnamed developer who proposed to convert it into residential condominiums.
The acquisition will allow the Red Bank Charter School Association to gather its resources under one roof, according to the group's officials. The school, which currently enrolls more than 160 students in grades four through eight, now has its administration and classrooms in two different locations in this Monmouth County community.
The restaurant is slated to shutter in May, and Charter School officials say they hope to have the facility ready for classes in September. The locally based architectural firm of Kaplan Gaunt Desantis has been hired to design the conversion.
