Traverse City's lodge is the third in the company's chain. Other Great Wolf Lodges are open in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. and Sandusky, Ohio. More are planned in Kansas City, KS.; Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada; Poconos, PA, and Wiliamsburg, VA.
The 38,000-sf water park features eight waterslides, five pools, two whirlpools and a $1 million interactive Treehouse Water Fort. The park pumps about a million heated gallons of water per hour, and 60 lifeguards are on staff to patrol the area.
The lodge has the second indoor water park in Michigan. The first opened two years ago at the Sterling Inn on Van Dyke in Sterling Heights.
The hotel has 281 suites with many geared toward families. Many rooms are "Kid Cabin" suites, with enclosed areas for children with bunk beds with TVs and Nintendo games. Other rooms have jacuzzis or fireplaces. All rooms have kitchens.
