The deal "strengthens our growing Middlesex County portfolio," according to Stewart Epstein, Kushner's chief operating officer, who notes that it follows the company's acquisition, late last year, of the nearby 44-unit Highland House Apartments. The company had earlier acquired the 169-unit high-rise Riverside Towers just across the river in New Brunswick, NJ, as well as the 214-unit Tanglewood Terrace garden apartment complex in nearby Piscataway. Kushner has also gotten approval to develop an upscale active adult project in East Brunswick, NJ.

According to Epstein, Kushner plans to spend more than $300,000 on upgrades at Harper House, following a similar renovation completed at the Highland House complex. Besides the general upgrade, individual units will be refurbished as they turn over.
