"Our challenge with this enormous property was to blend the old and the new," says hotel general manager Gary Upton. "Our budget allowed the designers to redesign or refresh almost every room in the hotel. It's a great pleasure to show off our new look."

The Sheraton has the most meeting space of any hotel in the city. Its Grand Ballroom, the only ballroom in the city with high speed Internet access, is large enough to seat 2,000. The ballroom includes jewel-toned carpeting, patterned in a non-traditional arts and crafts style, contrasting wall covering above and below the wainscoting and numerous bowl shaped chandeliers.

In addition, 31-meeting rooms, all with Internet, AKA Ethernet or broadband capabilities, received new carpeting, enhanced lighting, new wall covering or new draperies.

The hotel hired designer of Erica Ayers of Boulder-based HVC Compass Interior Design for the makeover.

The Sheraton Colorado Springs is at 2886 South Circle Dr., about 15 minutes from the airport and five minutes from downtown. Interstate Hotels and Resorts manages the hotel. It operates about 400 hospitality properties with nearly 85,000 rooms in 44 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and Russia.
