The move comes a year after the developer dropped plans for a ski and leisure centre on the same 17-acre site on Middlewood Street. It abandoned the proposal despite having secured planning consent after failing to secure funding. Now the developer has revised the plans and is looking to build a mix of offices, shops, homes and leisure facilities.It also retains proposals to re-open the Manchester, Bury & Bolton canal, which runs through the site.
Valley & Vale is now looking for a funding and development partner and is drawing up a masterplan for the site. Both are likely to be complicated by multi-ownership of the land.
