The east side of the property has been sold to Art Van furniture stores, andthe west side of the mall is being bulldozed for future development by itsowner, Stanley Frankel.

The last store standing is the restaurant Duke Humphries, a European-stylerestaurant which features live entertainment. The restaurant is part of theKosch Foodservice Group, which operates 40 dining facilities throughoutSoutheast Michigan, and former Detroit Red Wing Gordie Howe's Tavern andEatery in Traverse City, MI.

Company president Gordie Kosch said he has spent six months looking for anew home for the restaurant, knowing the bulldozer was coming soon.

"We had a purchase offer in on a building on Main Street in downtownRochester, but we needed a 30-day contingency for due diligence and anotherbuyer did not," Kosch said. "So, Duke's could live on, if we could own thereal estate of a site within a one- to two-mile radius of downtownRochester."
