Holmes Group is a consumer products company that has leased the space as its western distribution center, according to Ted Carpenter of Carpenter & Associates in Newport Beach. He and Mike Carpenter, also of Carpenter & Associates, along with Chuck Belden and Kyle Kehner of Cushman & Wakefield of California Inc. represented Des Moines, IA-based Principal Life Insurance Co., the property owner. Marc Burns, Mark Latimer and Kent Stalwick, all with Insignia/ESG, represented the Holmes Group in the five-year lease.
Burns says Holmes recently decided to move its manufacturing overseas and wanted a distribution building that was convenient to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Holmes will get the keys in May to its first facility in the Los Angeles Basin, being built by Oltmans Construction Co. of Whittier, CA. The 38-acre project has been designed with 159 dock-high doors, an ESFR sprinkler system, 32-foot minimum interior clearance and 730 parking spaces.
The Holmes Group is a publicly held manufacturer of consumer products for the home, including kitchen and lighting products. Its brands include Bionaire, Crock-Pot, Slow Cooker, Masterglow, Patton, Rival and White Mountain.
