The 128-room Hilton Garden Inn, which will rise at 8550 E. Princess Dr., is being developed by Scottsdale Lodging Investors LLC. The hotel will feature a full-service kitchen, large pool area, workout facilities, business center and meeting rooms, all set on a three acres located near the TPC golf course in Scottsdale, the site of the Phoenix Open.
Jeff Stone, president of Summit Builders, tells GlobeSt.com that construction costs for the hotel are estimated to be between $7 million and $8 million with completion scheduled for the fall 2004. "We're still in the design phase. The exterior elevation has not even been finalized yet," Stone said of the project, which is being designed by architect Todd & Associates of Phoenix. Stone said the design currently calls for either wood or light gauge-steel frame construction with a stucco exterior accented by stone and an elaborately planned pool area designed with vacationing families in mind.
The hotel will be the Phoenix-based builder's fourth Hilton Garden Inn project in the Western US. Summit currently is building another Hilton Garden Inn in Central Phoenix and has constructed similar projects for Hilton in Garden Grove and Monetebello, CA. The general contractor has built a total of 14 hotels for the Hilton chain, including Hilton Garden Inns, Homewood Suites, Embassy Suites, Doubletree and Hampton Inns in Arizona and California.
