Tishman Construction acted as both construction and project manager for the new building, according to Jay Jefferson, construction manager for the university. The university says its information technology program is growing 25% per year. The telecommunications building will provide voice, video, and data interconnectivity throughout the campus, housing health and student services facilities in addition to IT classrooms and administrative offices.

The information technology building is one of a number of new structures that the university has completed in recent years, Jefferson notes. In early 2002, Tishman finished construction management for the $5.5-million California Academy of Mathematics and Sciences, a high school on the university campus for high academic achievers.
