Jerry Scullin and David Hoffberg, both with Van Nuys-based Delphi, say the firm purchased the building to meet a number of space needs, including the requirement to consolidate some operations, expand some subsidiaries and provide additional parking for all of its operations. Scullin and Hoffberg represented ISS, which is scheduled to move this month into its new headquarters at 9545 Wentworth St.
Gregg Bilson Jr., executive vice president and CFO for ISS, says about 100 workers will be employed at the Sunland facility, which replaces three buildings totaling 45,000 sf in nearby Sun Valley, CA. ISS bought the building from Pepin-Merhi Productions, which was represented by Dave Maron of Stevenson Real Estate Services in Glendale.
Scullin and Hoffberg are marketing the former ISS facilities, two of which are already in escrow, with a 10,000-sf building still available. Founded in a garage 25 years ago by Gregg Bilson Sr., ISS is a family-owned and operated business whose services include prop research and consultation, rentals, sales, manufacturing, special effects, weapons, period to futuristic set decorations, computer graphics, video sync, full service printing and graphic design, expendables and storage space rental. Some services are provided by ISS subsidiaries, Studio Art & Technology and Studio Graphics.
The company has been seeking to consolidate its activities for some time, looking for a facility that would accommodate its operations and would provide ample parking for 48-foot trailers and other large vehicles. The new ISS headquarters is a concrete tilt-up, dock-high structure featuring 50,000 sf of two-story office space and 16-foot minimum interior clearance.
