Anderson has served as president and CEO of Birtcher Property Services since 1992 and co-chairman of the Birtcher Real Estate Group since 1999. He is responsible for the company's investment activity, property and asset management and leasing operations. He joined the company in 1988 after serving as manager in the Irvine Co.'s treasury department for three years. Anderson is the only individual outside the Birtcher family to serve as co-chairman.

Arthur Birtcher, co-chairman of the 64-year-old firm, credited Anderson with "re-energizing" the firm's direct investment business and enhancing its reputation as an institutional-quality property management firm. Birtcher was founded in 1939 as a family enterprise specializing in development, investment and construction. The company has been responsible for the acquisition, development and management of approximately 100 million sf of commercial, industrial and residential properties throughout the nation. It has also acquired 2.2 million sf of individual assets and real estate portfolios valued at more than $300 million.
