David Snyder likes to think of it as "going home." The prodigal son left Constructors about three years ago, did a short stint with WorkPlaceUSA in Dallas and then joined Crescent. The one-time 11-year employee returns as one of four execs leading Constructors for parent company, the Structure Tone Organization of New York City.
"We're very sad to lose David," John Zogg, Fort Worth-based Crescent's senior vice president of asset management and leasing, tells GlobeSt.com, noting Snyder's duties will be divvied rather than a replacement named. "He's a tremendous asset to Crescent and he's nurtured a lot of relationships for us. We worked well with David before he was at Crescent and we'll work well with him after."
The praise is mutual, with Snyder saying the "world-class Crescent" has allowed him to learn some tricks of the industry that he's taking home to his first love, construction. "I feel like I can make a difference," he says. Snyder's team numbers five, but more will be added as Constructors grows via a strategy to chase jobs from brokers to building owners.
With offices in Austin, Houston and San Antonio, the 26-year-old Constructors got its start in interiors build-out, but now has a foothold as a general contractor with the full menu of services that goes along with the business. The Dallas-Fort Worth headquarters office remains best known for interiors, new and old construction, whereas the Austin office has cornered some premier ground-up jobs, including Atlanta-based Cousins Properties Inc.'s 525,000-sf Congress at Fourth, soon to be renamed Frost Bank Tower.
"With David Snyder coming back to Constructors," says Robert Albanese, Constructors' president, "The possibilities are limitless." He says the firm has targeted the medical sector, higher education and aviation industry for future growth.
Snyder's "TLC" brand of client nurturing gets off the ground with new contracts with Seton Healthcare in Austin and Texas A&M's Laredo campus, where Constructors just snagged a $17-million project for an 85,000-sf science center. It also is holding contracts for airport construction projects in Killeen and San Antonio.
Albanese stresses Snyder isn't back just to steer business development. "He's joining the senior management team," he says of a team founded and led today by Fenan Fitzmartin. COO Curt Sund is the fourth member of the lead team.
