In a marketing effort to increase congregation size, the church is using commercial real estate development concepts in planning a 50-acre new home along U.S. 27, about 25 miles west of Downtown Orlando.
The church plans to break ground by June on a campus that will comprise classrooms, offices, boutiques, bookstore, café, full-size gymnasium, outdoor swimming pool, bowling alley and an arcade.
The congregation has grown to 800 from 19 in six years. Clermont council members approved the church's revised request for 3,000 seats in the planned new sanctuary, up from its initial request of 2,200.
The church is selling its existing quarters further north on U.S. 27 to the nearby city of Minneola. Minneola plans to convert the old church building to a new city hall, city officials confirm.
