Ground will break in January 2004 on a two-story design that should be ready to open in late 2004, a contact tells GlobeSt.com. The forecast calls for more than 380,000 visitors in the first operating year and then spike to 450,000 annually.

Kirksey Inc. of Houston is the project architect. The educational museum, with a Main Street look, will contain the usual fare of exhibit space and classrooms as well as a store and workspace.

The Children's Museum is a sure-fire drawing card for the Market Street town center, an assortment of 212,000 sf of retail and entertainment venues and 60,000 sf of restaurants. Signed retailers include a 78,000-sf Central Market grocery and 26,000-sf Borders Books & Music. Trademark is still negotiating for a 950-seat, five-screen theater. The project also will have 92,000 sf of class A loft-style offices.
